How to Add Email to iPhone: A Step-by-Step Setup Guide

June 18, 2025 By Steven

You can add most email accounts to the iPhone from Settings. Common providers such as iCloud, Google, Microsoft Exchange, Outlook, and Yahoo can usually be configured by signing in rather than entering mail-server information manually.

  1. Open Settings and go to the Mail settings. On newer iOS versions, this may be under Apps > Mail.
  2. Tap Mail Accounts or Accounts, then tap Add Account.
  3. Choose your email provider. If it is not listed, choose Other.
  4. Enter your email address and sign in when prompted.
  5. Choose the information you want to sync, such as Mail and Contacts, then tap Save if that option appears.

If automatic setup fails, your email provider may require incoming and outgoing server names, ports, or an app-specific password. Get those settings from the provider rather than guessing them.
