The Camera grid places guide lines over the viewfinder to help you keep horizons level and use common composition techniques such as the rule of thirds. On an iPhone 11, the setting is controlled from the Camera section of Settings.
- Open Settings.
- Open the Camera settings. On newer iOS versions you may find app settings under Settings > Apps.
- Find the Grid option.
- Turn Grid on.
- Open Camera and confirm that the guide lines appear in the viewfinder.
The grid is not saved in the photo
The lines are only a shooting aid. They do not become part of the picture you take.
Leveling help
Depending on your iOS version and camera mode, Camera can also provide a level indicator. This can help with straight horizons or overhead photos in addition to the grid.
If your screen looks different
The labels on your screen can vary slightly with the iOS version, region, carrier, or app version. If a menu name is different, use the search field in Settings or update the relevant app before assuming the feature has been removed. After making the change, return to the app or feature and test it so you can confirm that the result matches what you intended.
