Airdrop from iPhone to Mac is easiest when you use the iPhone feature that directly controls the task instead of changing several unrelated settings.
- Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both the iPhone and Mac.
- On the Mac, open Finder > AirDrop and choose an appropriate discoverability setting.
- On the iPhone, open the photo, document, or other item you want to send and tap Share.
- Tap AirDrop and select the Mac.
- Accept the transfer on the Mac if prompted, then verify the file arrived.
AirDrop uses Bluetooth for discovery and a direct wireless connection for transfer. Keep the devices nearby and make sure Personal Hotspot is not interfering.
If the Mac does not appear, set AirDrop discoverability temporarily to Everyone for 10 Minutes where appropriate, then retry. Also verify that both devices are awake and within Bluetooth range. Return discoverability to your preferred setting afterward.
When finished, verify the result in the app or setting you changed before making additional adjustments.
