You can create and customize iPhone wallpaper combinations for the Lock Screen and Home Screen. The Lock Screen gallery makes it easy to switch among several saved designs.
Change Wallpaper From the Lock Screen
- Wake and unlock the iPhone without leaving the Lock Screen.
- Touch and hold the Lock Screen.
- Swipe to an existing wallpaper or tap the option to add a new one.
- Choose a photo, color, emoji, weather design, or another available wallpaper type.
- Customize the clock, widgets, and other available options.
- Save the wallpaper combination.
Change Wallpaper From Settings
- Open Settings.
- Tap Wallpaper.
- Choose an existing wallpaper to customize or add a new wallpaper.
- Configure the Lock Screen and Home Screen.
Use Different Lock and Home Screen Images
You do not have to use the identical image on both screens. After setting the Lock Screen, customize the Home Screen separately if you prefer a different photo, color, blur, or other available appearance.
Wallpaper Does Not Delete the Original Photo
Using a photo as wallpaper does not remove it from Photos. Likewise, deleting a wallpaper configuration normally does not mean you have deleted the source image from your photo library.
Consider Readability
A wallpaper that looks good in Photos can make the clock, widgets, or app labels difficult to read. Test the design on both the Lock Screen and Home Screen and adjust blur, color, or image positioning as needed. High contrast is especially helpful when you glance at the phone quickly or use it outdoors.
Focus-Linked Wallpapers
A Lock Screen can be linked to a Focus. If a wallpaper seems to switch at particular times or places, review its Focus association before deleting and recreating the wallpaper.
