Find My can be turned off for an iPhone you still control, but Apple requires authentication because Find My is tied to Activation Lock and theft protection.
- Open Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Find My, then Find My iPhone.
- Turn off Find My iPhone.
- Enter the Apple Account password or complete the authentication Apple requests.
- Confirm that the setting is off before selling, servicing, or transferring the device.
If the iPhone is lost or stolen, do not remove it from your Apple Account merely to make it disappear from Find My. Removing a device can also remove Activation Lock protection.
