Pop ups are usually a bad thing, so most browsers will block them by default. But it’s possible that you may wish to disable the pop up blocker in Edge on an iPhone if it is preventing you from viewing something.
While pop ups have a generally bad reputation, there are times where they are used for good reasons. For example, you might be trying to fill out a form for work or school, and the site you are trying to visit is trying to display the form as a pop up window.
Since Microsoft Edge doesn’t know if a pop up is good or bad, it just blocks all of them, which can prevent you from accomplishing something that requires access to a pop up window.
Fortunately you can follow our steps below to turn off the Microsoft Edge pop up blocker on your iPhone.
How to Disable the Pop Up Blocker in Edge on an iPhone
- Open Edge.
- Open the menu.
- Select Settings.
- Choose Privacy & security.
- Turn off the Block pop-ups option.

How to Stop Blocking Pop Ups in the Edge iPhone Web Browser
The steps in this article were performed on an iPhone 11 in iOS 14.3. I am using the most current version of the Edge app that was available when this article was written.
Step 1: Open the Edge app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Touch the button with three dots at the bottom of the screen.
Step 3: Choose the Settings option.
Step 4: Select Privacy & security at the top of the menu.
Step 5: Scroll to the bottom of the menu and tap the button to the right of Block pop ups to turn off the Edge pop up blocker.
You can then exit this menu and return to your browsing window. Note that you may need to reload a page or resubmit a form if you need to access a pop up window that have been blocked previously.
This will not stop other browser apps from blocking pop ups. You can read this article to see how to stop blocking pop ups in the Chrome iPhone app.
It’s usually a good idea to go back and re-enable the pop up blocker when you are finished doing whatever required access to the pop up window.
