Downloading photos from an iPhone can mean importing them to a computer or saving originals from iCloud. For a direct computer transfer, unlock the iPhone and use a compatible data cable.
- Connect the iPhone to the Mac or Windows PC and unlock it.
- Tap Trust if the iPhone asks whether to trust the computer.
- On a Mac, open Photos or Image Capture. On Windows, open the Photos app and use its import option.
- Select the pictures you want and import them to the computer.
- Open several imported files before deleting anything from the iPhone.
If iCloud Photos and Optimize iPhone Storage are enabled, some full-resolution originals may not currently be stored on the phone. Keep the iPhone online so needed originals can download, or download the originals through your iCloud Photos library instead.
