You can create an iPhone ringtone from an audio file with GarageBand. The source audio must be available for editing and cannot be a protected streaming track.
- Open GarageBand and create an Audio Recorder project.
- Open the Tracks view and import the audio file into the project.
- Trim the audio to the section you want as the ringtone.
- Return to My Songs, touch and hold the project, and tap Share > Ringtone.
- Name and export the ringtone.
After export, assign it to the standard ringtone, a text tone where supported, or a specific contact.
If the labels on your screen differ slightly, use Settings search or the app’s current menus to find the named feature. Apple sometimes moves controls between iOS releases, so follow the feature name rather than an unrelated setting with similar wording.
