Merge Contacts on iPhone is easiest when you use the iPhone feature that directly controls the task instead of changing several unrelated settings.
- Open the Contacts app.
- Open one of the contact cards you want to combine.
- Tap Edit, then choose the option to link contacts.
- Select the other contact card and confirm the link.
- Review the combined card to make sure the names and numbers are correct.
Linking contact cards presents them as one person without necessarily deleting the underlying records from their source accounts. If iOS offers a duplicates-found tool, use that for true duplicate cleanup.
Before merging, compare phone numbers, email addresses, company names, and notes so useful information is not lost. Contacts from iCloud, Google, and Exchange can appear together even though the underlying cards remain in separate accounts.
When finished, verify the result in the app or setting you changed before making additional adjustments.
