You can record supported phone and FaceTime audio calls directly on newer versions of iOS. When recording is available, everyone on the call hears an announcement, so the other person is not secretly recorded.
Steps
- Open the Phone app and start or answer a call.
- Tap the call recording control during the call. Your iPhone announces that recording has started.
- Continue the conversation, then stop the recording or end the call.
- Open Notes to find the saved recording and, when supported, its transcript.
Call recording availability can depend on your region, language, and software version. Laws about recording conversations also vary, so make sure you are allowed to record the call where you live.
If you do not see the recording control, first update iOS and check whether the feature is supported in your location. Third-party call-recording services may work differently and can involve conference calling, subscriptions, or separate privacy rules.
