Photos deleted from the iPhone normally remain in the Recently Deleted album for a limited period. After they are permanently removed from that album, the Photos app does not provide another undelete button.
- Open Photos and check the Recently Deleted collection first.
- If the photo is present, authenticate if required, select it, and tap Recover.
- If it is not there, check other places where a copy might exist, such as another photo service, a Mac or PC import, shared library, message attachment, or older backup.
- Before restoring an old device backup, verify that the backup actually predates the deletion and understand that restoring can replace newer device data.
If iCloud Photos was syncing when the photo was deleted, the deletion generally syncs across devices, so an iCloud device backup is not necessarily an independent photo archive.
