You can remove the subject of a photo from its background with the iPhone’s built-in subject-lift feature. This works best when the subject has a clear outline.
- Open Photos and display the picture.
- Touch and hold the main subject until a glowing outline appears.
- Tap Copy to paste the isolated subject elsewhere, or tap Share to send or save it using an available app.
- Open the destination app and paste or insert the cutout.
The original photo is not changed. For a transparent image file or more detailed edge editing, you may need an image-editing app.
If the labels on your screen differ slightly, use Settings search or the app’s current menus to find the named feature. Apple sometimes moves controls between iOS releases, so follow the feature name rather than an unrelated setting with similar wording.
