When you first set up your iPhone 11, one of the things you likely did was create a Face ID. This provides an alternate way for you to unlock the device, as well as confirm certain actions.
But if your appearance has changed significantly, or if your iPhone isn’t reading your face very well, then you may need to reset your Face ID.
Luckily you can accomplish this rather easily by completing our iPhone Face ID reset tutorial below.
How to Reset an iPhone Face ID
The steps in this article were performed on an iPhone 11 in iOS 13.3. This guide assumes that you had previously set up a Face ID on your device. Note that if you have a passcode on your iPhone that you will need to know it to complete these steps.
Step 1: Open the Settings app.
Step 2: Scroll down and choose the Face ID & Passcode option.
Step 3: Enter the device passcode.
Step 4: Tap the Reset Face ID button. Note that there isn’t any kind of confirmation for this. Once you touch that button your Face ID will be removed.
You are then free to create a new face ID, which will involve positioning your face in a circle on the iPhone screen, then rotating your head a few times so the iPhone can create your face profile.
