You can see another person’s iPhone location only when that person has chosen to share their location with you or has accepted your request to follow their location. Find My does not provide a way to secretly locate another person’s iPhone.
See a person’s shared location in Find My
- Open the Find My app.
- Tap People.
- Tap the person’s name.
- View the location shown on the map, if that person is currently sharing it with you.
If the person is listed but their location is not available, they may have stopped sharing, disabled Location Services for Find My, have no network connection, or have a device that cannot currently report its location.
Ask someone to share their location
- Open Find My and tap People.
- Select the person if you already share your location with them.
- Tap Ask To Follow Location.
- Wait for the person to accept the request.
What to know
Location sharing is controlled by the person whose location is being shared. If you are trying to find your own missing iPhone, use the Devices section of Find My or iCloud.com/find instead of the People section.
Location sharing versus finding a device
The People tab is intended for consensual location sharing between people. The Devices tab is for supported devices associated with your own Apple Account or otherwise available to you through supported Find My features. Keeping those purposes separate helps avoid confusion when a friend’s location disappears. A person’s shared location can also come from a device they selected as their location source, so it may not always represent the particular iPhone you expect.
