The quickest way to send your current location from an iPhone depends on whether you want to share one place once or keep sharing your live location. Messages, Maps, and Find My can all provide location-sharing tools.
- Open the conversation in Messages with the person you want to send your location to.
- Tap the contact or conversation controls at the top, or use the location option available from the Messages app controls.
- Choose the option to send your current location if you only want to send a one-time map location.
- If you choose an ongoing location-sharing option instead, select the duration offered by iOS.
- Review the recipient before sending or starting the share.
Current location versus live location
A current-location message is essentially a location snapshot. Ongoing sharing can update your location as you move and should only be enabled for people you intend to share with.
Location Services must be available
