iPhone can share certain saved credentials without requiring you to read a password aloud. The best method depends on what you are sharing. Wi-Fi credentials can be shared automatically between nearby Apple devices, while other credentials can be shared through Apple’s Passwords features when supported.
How to do it
- For Wi-Fi sharing, make sure both Apple devices have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on and are near each other.
- Connect your iPhone to the Wi-Fi network that you want to share.
- On the other device, select that same Wi-Fi network.
- When the Share Password prompt appears on your iPhone, tap it to approve the connection.
- For website or app credentials, open the Passwords app and use the available sharing controls for the selected credential or shared group.
Why the Wi-Fi prompt may not appear
The devices need to meet Apple’s sharing requirements, including compatible software and appropriate contact/account information. Personal Hotspot should not be used as a substitute for the normal Wi-Fi password-sharing prompt.
