If another Apple device needs to join the Wi-Fi network you are already using, your iPhone can share the network password without requiring you to read it aloud.
Share a Wi-Fi Password
- Make sure both devices have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on.
- Keep the devices close together.
- Unlock your iPhone and make sure it is connected to the Wi-Fi network.
- On the other device, select that Wi-Fi network.
- Wait for the Share Password prompt to appear on your iPhone.
- Tap Share Password.
- Tap Done after the other device connects.
If the Share Password Prompt Does Not Appear
Confirm that both devices meet Apple’s sharing requirements, are signed in appropriately, and have the relevant contact information saved. Toggling Wi-Fi or Bluetooth is less useful than first checking that the devices are unlocked and close together.
Share the Password Manually
On supported iOS versions, you can view a saved Wi-Fi password after authenticating in the Wi-Fi settings. Use this only with people you trust because anyone who knows the password may be able to join the network.
This Is Not Personal Hotspot
Wi-Fi password sharing helps another device join the same Wi-Fi network. Personal Hotspot instead shares your iPhone’s cellular data connection.
Do Not Share a Network You Do Not Control
Before sharing a password, make sure you are authorized to give another person access to that network. Workplaces, schools, hotels, and managed networks can have their own access rules. If the network is not yours, the safer approach may be to ask the network administrator or owner rather than redistributing its credentials.
