How to Stop the Screen from Turning Off on Your iPhone: Easy Tips

June 13, 2025 By Steven

The iPhone normally turns off its display after a period of inactivity. If you need the screen to remain on longer while reading instructions, watching a status screen, or doing another task, change the Auto-Lock setting.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Display & Brightness.
  3. Tap Auto-Lock.
  4. Choose a longer interval, or choose Never if you do not want the screen to lock automatically.

Leaving the display on continuously uses more battery and can make it easier for someone to access an unattended unlocked phone. If Auto-Lock is stuck at 30 seconds or an option is unavailable, check whether Low Power Mode or a device-management policy is limiting the setting.
