How to Tell Which iPhone I Have: A Simple Guide to Identification

August 19, 2025 By Steven

You can identify an iPhone accurately from the About screen, which is more dependable than comparing camera shapes or screen sizes.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap General > About.
  3. Read the Model Name.
  4. For a more exact identifier, tap the model-number field if necessary to display the hardware model number.

Use the exact model when shopping for cases, screen protectors, repair parts, or accessories. Similar-looking iPhones can have different dimensions, button positions, cameras, and connector types.

Before removing originals or changing an important setting, verify the result on the iPhone so you can correct the change while the original information is still available.
