How to Transfer Apps from iPhone to iPhone: A Step-by-Step Guide

April 9, 2025 By Steven

The easiest way to move apps to a new iPhone is to use Apple’s setup transfer options. Apps are normally downloaded again from the App Store while your compatible data and settings are transferred.

  1. Turn on the new iPhone and place it near your old iPhone.
  2. Follow the Quick Start prompts on the old device.
  3. Connect both phones to power and Wi-Fi when prompted.
  4. Choose to transfer directly from the old iPhone or restore from an iCloud backup.
  5. Keep the devices nearby until the main transfer finishes, then leave the new iPhone connected to power and Wi-Fi while apps continue downloading.

Some apps require you to sign in again, and banking, authentication, work, or security apps may require additional setup. Apps that are no longer available in the App Store may not transfer successfully.
