Apple’s Move to iOS app can transfer much of your information from an Android phone while you are setting up a new or freshly erased iPhone. It is designed for the initial setup process, so it is best used before you finish configuring the iPhone.
Transfer Android Data With Move to iOS
- Plug both phones into power.
- Connect the Android phone to Wi-Fi.
- Turn on the iPhone and begin Setup Assistant.
- At the transfer screen, choose From Android.
- Install and open Move to iOS on the Android phone.
- Enter the code shown on the iPhone.
- Select the content you want to transfer.
- Leave both phones alone until the iPhone’s progress bar finishes.
- Complete iPhone setup.
What Can Transfer?
Supported content can include contacts, message history, photos and videos, calendars, mail accounts, and some other data. Compatible free apps can also be suggested for download from the App Store. Exact results depend on the apps and services you used on Android.
If the iPhone Is Already Set Up
Move to iOS is intended for setup. If the iPhone is already configured, you can either move individual data types manually or erase the iPhone and start setup again. Do not erase it until you have backed up anything already on the device that you need to keep.
When the Transfer Stalls
Keep the Android phone near the iPhone, avoid switching apps, and leave Wi-Fi enabled. If the Android phone reports a weak internet connection during the temporary transfer connection, that does not necessarily mean the process has failed.
