How to Transfer Old iPhone to New iPhone: A Step-by-Step Guide

June 5, 2025 By Steven

There is no need to literally “clone” an iPhone. Apple’s Quick Start can transfer apps, settings, and much of your data from an old iPhone to a new one during setup.

  1. Connect the old iPhone to Wi-Fi, turn on Bluetooth, and place it near the new iPhone.
  2. Turn on the new iPhone and follow the Quick Start prompt on the old device.
  3. Connect the new iPhone to Wi-Fi or cellular service and complete Face ID or Touch ID setup.
  4. Choose whether to transfer directly from the old iPhone or download your data from iCloud.
  5. Keep the devices near each other and connected to power until the transfer is finished.

Have your Apple Account password available. Cellular activation or eSIM transfer can require additional carrier steps.
