How to Turn Off Airplane Mode on iPhone 13

Your iPhone has a lot of different options and settings that you can use to get it ready for certain situations. This includes things like Screen Time, Do Not Disturb, and Airplane Mode.

You can turn on or turn off airplane mode on an iPhone 13 by opening the Control center, then tapping the airplane icon.

By choosing to enable airplane mode you are telling your iPhone to turn off its network connections, meaning that you won’t be able to access the Internet as you will be temporarily unable to use your cellular or Wi-Fi connection.

As you might expect, this mode is meant to be a quick way for you to make your device compliant with airplane travel, as most airlines require you to turn off your phone for takeoff and landing. By choosing to turn on airplane mode you can quickly accomplish everything that the airlines require of you when having your phone on the plane.

Our guide below will walk you through using airplane mode on an iPhone 13, as well as an additional way that you can toggle this setting.

How to Put iPhone on Airplane Mode (Guide with Pictures)

The steps in this article were performed on an iPhone 13 in iOS 15.2.1. These same steps will work for other iPhone models in most other versions of iOS.

You can also use these steps to turn airplane mode on or off on an iPad or iPod Touch.

Step 1: Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to open the iPhone’s Control Center.

If you open the notification center instead then you are too close to the center of the screen. You need to swipe down near the battery icon.

Step 2: Tap on the airplane icon at the top-left corner of the Control Center.

When airplane mode is active the button will be orange. You can tap that button again when you are ready to exit airplane mode.

Method 2 – Where is Airplane Mode on My iPhone?

This method involves going through the Settings menu on the device.

Some people find this to be an easier way to remember, especially if they aren’t used to accessing the Control Center and often forget that it’s there, or how to access it.

Step 1: Open the Settings app.

open Settings

Step 2: Tap the button to the right of Airplane Mode to turn it on or off.

You can disable airplane mode by tapping that button again. You can also pick and choose between the Settings menu and the Control Center or enabling or disabling this setting.

When you have your iPhone in airplane mode it is going to disable most of the wireless connections that the device can use. This includes:

  • Wi-Fi
  • Cellular

However, it does not disable Bluetooth. This means that you will still be able to use Bluetooth devices with your iPhone, such as Airpods, Airpods Pro, your Apple Watch, and more.

When airplane mode is active on the iPhone you will see an airplane icon at the top-right corner of the screen.

Older iPhone models also have airplane mode. If your iPhone does not have a Home button then the steps in this article will remain the same.

However, if your iPhone does have a Home button then you access the Control center in a different way. You will need to swipe up from the bottom of the screen instead to be able to access the Control center and activate airplane mode on iPhone models like the iPhone 7.

The Control Center is a very useful menu on the iPhone, and it’s customizable. You can add or remove icons from the iPhone Control center by going to Settings > Control Center and tapping the green plus icon to add something to the Control Center, or tapping the red minus icon to remove something.

Note that some of the items on the Control Center cannot be removed, including Airplane Mode.
