How to Turn Off Apple News Notifications on an iPhone 11

The steps in this article are going to show you how to turn off notifications from the Apple News app on your iPhone.

  • This is not going to stop the email updates and notifications that you might also be receiving from Apple News. You would need to unsubscribe from those through the email itself.
  • Our guide is going to turn off all of the notifications from Apple News. You can, however, elect to customize the notifications from the menu instead.

The Apple News app is included on your iPhone by default. It’s a pretty good news app that you can customize to show you information about certain topics, or from certain publications.

But you may find the amount of notifications that you get from the News app to be a little excessive, and it could lead you to turn them off.

Our tutorial below is going to show you where to find the Apple News notification settings so that you can disable them for your iPhone.

How to Turn Off Notifications in Apple News on an iPhone

The steps in this article were performed on an iPhone 11 in iOS 13.4. You can always come back later and turn the notifications back on if you change your mind, or if this is only a temporary decision.

Step 1: Open the Settings app.

open Settings

Step 2: Select the Notifications option.

open the Notifications menu

Step 3: Scroll down and select News.

select the News option

Step 4: Tap the button to the right of Allow Notifications to turn it off.

All of the other notification options for the app will be hidden when you turn off this setting. If you want to keep some of the Apple News notifications turned on, then leave the Allow Notifications slider green, but change the individual settings on the menu instead.

Learn how to enable automatic app updates on your iPhone so that you can easily install new updates for your apps as they become available.
