Turning off iPhone location can mean two different things: disabling Location Services for every app or stopping location access for one app. Using per-app controls is usually better if only one app is the concern.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Privacy & Security.
- Tap Location Services.
- To disable location access broadly, turn off Location Services and confirm. To limit only one app, leave Location Services on and tap that app instead.
- For an individual app, choose the access level you want and adjust Precise Location if that option is available.
Location sharing is a separate consideration
Find My and Messages can be used for location sharing. If your goal is to stop sharing with a particular person, manage that share directly rather than disabling all Location Services.
Features may stop working
Maps navigation, local weather, camera geotagging, Find My features, and other apps can lose functionality when location access is disabled. Review the tradeoff before turning the master switch off.
If your screen looks different
The labels on your screen can vary slightly with the iOS version, region, carrier, or app version. If a menu name is different, use the search field in Settings or update the relevant app before assuming the feature has been removed. After making the change, return to the app or feature and test it so you can confirm that the result matches what you intended.
