How to Enable Restrictions on an iPhone 7

September 7, 2018 By Steven

Many of the settings that you may want to adjust to limit an iPhone’s functionality can simply be re-enabled without much effort. While this is fine if you are making these changes for your own use, it is not acceptable if you are trying to set up an iPhone for someone, like a child or an employee, that you don’t want to have access to the iPhone’s full functionality.

The Restrictions menu on the iPhone is incredibly useful in this situation, as it provides a means to lock down some areas of the device, and those functions and settings can only be adjusted on a menu that you can lock with a passcode. Our tutorial below will help you to find and enable Restrictions on the iPhone so that you can use them as needed.

How to Turn On Restrictions on an iPhone 7

The steps below are going to turn on a set of options that allow you to block or disable a number of important options on your iPhone. These settings will then be blocked by a passcode that may be separate from the passcode that you use to unlock your device. It is very important that you not forget this password, otherwise you may not be able to return to this menu and make any other changes.

Step 1: Tap the Settings icon.

Step 2: Scroll down and select the General option.

Step 3: Tap the Restrictions option.

Step 4: Press the Enable Restrictions button at the top of the screen.

Step 5: Create your Restrictions passcode.

Step 6: Re-enter the passcode to confirm it.

You can then adjust the settings on this menu as you see fit. For example, turning off the FaceTime option, as I have in the image below, would prevent you from using the FaceTime app to make or receive calls.

Is there a passcode on your iPhone that you are sick of entering every time you want to use your iPhone? Find out how to disable that iPhone passcode and make it a little easier to unlock your phone and start using it.
