Your iPhone can connect to a variety of different wireless networks and devices. Whether you need to get on your school or work Wi-Fi, or you want to use your new Bluetooth headphones, your iPhone can make it happen.
But your iPhone can also create a wireless network, called a personal Hotspot. Essentially this creates a mini wireless network that other wireless devices can connect to and access the Internet.
The name of your personal hotspot is going to be your iPhone’s name. If you haven’t changed this before then it’s probably something with your name. For example, someone with the name “John Smith” would probably have an iPhone with the name “John’s iPhone.”
Typically this isn’t going to be a problem, but you may not want to broadcast that to other nearby people, or you may have a common name that makes personal hotspot connections confusing.
Fortunately, you can change the name of your iPhone hotspot by completing a few short steps.

More Information on How to Change iPhone Hotspot Name
When you change the name of your personal hotspot it will affect the ability of other devices that had previously connected to your hotspot. They will need to reconnect.
Changing the name of the hotspot won’t change the password. You will need to open the Personal Hotspot option from the Settings app then tap the password button and replace the old password with the new one.
You can quickly turn off the Perosnal Hotspot by opening the Control center, tapping and holding on the network square at the top-left, then pressing the Personal Hotspot button.
If you connect other devices to your personal hotspot, like a laptop or desktop, then any data used by those devices will count for your monthly cellular plan allotment. If you don’t get unlimited mobile data then you will want to be careful to minimize activities that use a lot of data, such as video streaming or large file downloads.
The Internet connection that you share with another wireless device through your WiFi hotspot relies on your cellular data connection. You aren’t able to create and use a personal hotspot with a WiFi network connection. It requires you to have a mobile Internet or cellular network connection.
