Wi-Fi Calling lets an iPhone 14 place and receive cellular calls over a Wi-Fi connection when normal cellular coverage is weak or unavailable. The feature still uses your carrier service and phone number; it does not turn a regular call into a FaceTime call.
Availability depends on your wireless carrier and account. You may also be asked to confirm an emergency address before Wi-Fi Calling can be enabled.
Turn on Wi-Fi Calling
- Connect the iPhone to Wi-Fi.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Cellular.
- Select your cellular line if your iPhone uses more than one line.
- Tap Wi-Fi Calling, then turn on Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone.
- Follow any carrier prompts, including confirming an emergency address.
When Wi-Fi Calling is active, the carrier name in the status area may indicate that calls are using Wi-Fi. Call quality depends on the Wi-Fi connection, so moving closer to the router can help if calls break up.
If the Wi-Fi Calling option is missing, check that your carrier supports the feature and that your iPhone has current carrier settings and iOS updates.
